About Artist

Big up! From International recording, sing jay, songwriter Mustapha Craig Ward, AKA “Baldread,” Dedicated to the task of helping build communities through his live performances and youth participation in a variety of music and creativity projects. Although, sometimes drawing upon and cultivating innate abilities. The primary intention of these projects are promoting unity and peace, make awareness to the homeless youth problems, nurture a sense of purpose and self-esteem; to improve communication skills, and promote multi-cultural interaction. Over the past 10 years Baldread has built an outstanding record, as a mentor, performing artist, and teaching artist in the alterative school settings as well as live stage performances. Creating workshops in which youth participants are given direct exposure to the creative process, and in doing so, they are provided with avenues for channeling anger, frustration, and other such negative energy into a positive learning experience. This has in many cases shown itself to be of lasting value. Baldread’s unusual stage name has a tongue-in-cheek twist on the Reggae genre’s traditional dreadlocks style. Usually he’s found sporting a clean-shaven head! The name Baldread came form one of his students that did not like to work, so when Baldread showed up for class the student would say, “here comes that “Bald Head Dread”
