About Artist
Born in New Jersey, I was surrounded by music at an early age. I would sit and listen as my mother played favorites on her old Harrington & Sons "upright" piano . It was these special moments that ignited the spark that led me down the winding road of music. I started on the keys at an early age and continued my studies until age 13. Around this time I bought my first portable 8 track tape player and a whole new world of music became available to me. It wasn't long before I picked up a rock guitar and haven't put it down since.
And so it began...…
At the age of 14, I wrote my first lyrics titled "Ocean Avenue." A strip of coastal road familiar to me from Sandy Hook to Asbury Park, N.J. These were places I frequented often throughout my earlier years. Soon after, I composed the accompanying music and attempted my first multi-dubbed recording using my parents tiled bathroom for acoustics. I still have that crappy recording. :) As crude as it was, it was just enough to inspire me to continue as a musician, and strive to be a better song writer & recording artist.
With a head full of music and lyrics in hand...
I became lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for my first band when I was 15. In 1978, I was drawn toward the fast-paced beats and distorted sounds of the punk rock scene and began playing drums. Soon after, I went on to form a punk cover band and ended up playing some bass guitar along the way. Later on, I was able to drop the cover tunes and rock the clubs with all original material.
Looking back ....
I am not an exceptional vocalist or musician, but I'm having a blast doing what I love! My rounded experience has helped me get my tunes out of my head the way I envisioned them. I played a lot of local venues in N.J. until leaving the state. I have accumulated a trove of original music scores with lyrics I have yet to record. It's been fun revisiting my older tunes and reminiscing. As much as I want to move on to newer material, I can't help feeling these older tunes are important examples of my work that help define me as an artist and need to be recorded as well.
Now ...
Calling Florida my home, I continue to chase my dream by recording and producing my songs for my new upcoming CD. Afterwards, I'll be looking forward to some live venues again. My songs are "works in progress" so if anything seems a little out of place or sparse, chances are I'm not finished yet. :) So be sure to stop back from time to time. Producing all aspects of my music has been a labor of love. When 10 songs are completed, I will be looking forward to starting my next project. I hope others will find my music as enjoyable as I do. Thank you for all your support in any form. It is greatly appreciated.
