I write songs and then I sing them. I don't do it for anybody else (except my wife), and I don't care much if my songs fit the mold of what people want to hear or not. Actually, that's a lie. I care deeply about what people think, but I've learned that it doesn't do you any good as an artist to dwell on it. I avoid listening to the radio, mainly because I can't stand having some guy yelling at me about the drink special at some lame night club, the latest deal at Mike Smith Toyota, etc, etc., but also because I don't want to be influenced too much by what's on the radio. I write whatever comes into my head, and I don't pay much attention to genres, although I think I'm at the intersection of rock/country/folk. I need a record deal so that I can stop working, play music, buy a bigger house and a faster car, and vacation in exotic locales. If you can help me with this, I'd love to talk about this further.
