Formed in early 2008 by Jesse Nemitz, David Wilkes and Chris Mercer, 16th State completed its final lineup in April, 2009 adding Josh Hilliker on Drums and Chris Gitzke on bass.
16th State is a socially conscious space-rock band performing songs that connect deeply with most of their fans. Catchy pop, only with lyrics that drive deep into the soul. Hard rock, yet with chords that can only serve to lift the spirit. Creative combinations of sounds, only with the memorable melodies that well-written rock ballads deliver.
16th State is also a band that everyone can love to hate. Criticized heavily for their affable use of heroin chic as a standard motiff, 16th State maintains, from an early blog, that they love "pissing people off" and have kept the look that has turned away many potential fans.
