A Play On Words has been recording and playing shows since spring break of 2009. APOW, which just started as an acoustic project of Charlie Foti, a front-man in a former potential Tooth and Nail screamo act With Heart, has turned into an even more serious band than his former band. Playing shows in the summer of 2009, A Play On Words has shared the stage with Owl City, The Scenic, up-and-comers The Starlight Getaway, and Victory Records's Driver Side Impact and many more. A Play On Words continues to grow with its new permanent band member list (Charlie: Vocals/Guitar/Piano, Stephen: Bass, Andrew: Percussion), and has found a secure fan base in the Tampa Bay area. They continue to grow daily online through MySpace, getting more hits than any other local band of the same genre continuously. Lover's Lament Entertainment (a company that has worked with bands such as Hellogoodbye, The Spill Canvas, and The Early November) commented about APOW, saying they are "...pretty acoustic music in the vein of Dashboard Confessional with the pop sensibility of Say Anything". They have been featured in Tampa Bay Times, and on the popular music website AbsolutePunk. They are currently playing shows are frequently as possible all over Florida, and creating hype for their new EP, which is finished and will come out late May. APOW does not seem to stop growing any time soon, and is creating quite a notch for themselves in the Florida music scene.
