Artist Biography

Arek picked up the acoustic guitar at the age of 15 in Torun, Poland and spent the next 5 years learning from guitar greats such as Page, Blackmore and Hendrix before switching to bass guitar in 94 - as his first band already had a lead guitarist! Between 96 and 2000 Arek released three albums with ‘Pomoc Duchowa’ an acoustic folk band. Between 1999 and 2004 Arek played with local Polish jazz combos, a fusion band, a Latin jazz quintet, a blues band, and a folk drum ensemble. In 2000 he studied at the Jazz College at Music Academy in Katowice and in 2002 Arek formed ‘Staff Jazz trio’ who released their debut CD in April 2004 (http://staff.art.pl) just before he left for London. In England Arek jammed at Montunos in Shoreditch, Chats Palace in Homerton, The Space in Docklands, The Spice Of Life in Soho and Ain't Nothing But Blues in Soho where he met and recorded with London rock band ’26 Years’. In April 2005 Arek met Pete Rax and Dom Ryder at The Great Frog and formed The Dudes - now SOHO GROOVE AUTHORITY. In Feb 2006, after being seen live at the 100 Club with SGA , Arek was approached by MADNESS for some session work.
